The Access Northeast Educational Forum will take place at Sharon High School on April 7th, from 7pm–9pm. There will be an overview of Spectra Energy’s proposedAccess Northeast gas pipeline project, followed by 60 minutes of expert panel presentations and then a moderated question and answer period. Concerned residents, elected and appointed officials, and anyone interested in learning more about the pipeline and how to oppose it are welcome to attend and bring their questions.

Panelists:

Christophe Courchesne, Assistant Attorney General, Chief, Environmental Protection Division;

Caitlin Peale Sloan, Staff Attorney, Conservation Law Foundation Massachusetts;

Cathy Kristofferson, Co-founder, StopNED;

Jessica Porter, Member of the Dedham Zoning Board of Appeals and accidental pipeline activist.

Moderator: Claire Miller, Lead Community Organizer, Toxics Action Center.

The forum will provide attendees with a better understanding of the Spectra Energy proposal, why additional pipeline infrastructure in Massachusetts is opposed by so many, what’s being done to counter the proposal at the state level, what to expect if Spectra builds a pipeline in your town, and what attendees can do to effectively oppose Spectra’s Access Northeast (ANE) project. The proposed Spectra Energy Access Northeast gas pipeline project includes the Q1 loop, a high pressure 30″ fracked gas pipeline, slated to run through Franklin, Medway, Bellingham, Norfolk, Millis, Walpole, Sharon, Canton, and Stoughton.

The forum is being organized by No Sharon Gas Pipeline with generous support from 350MA Better Futures Project and Toxics Action Center. Co-sponsors to date include: Mothers Out Front, Clean Water Action, Sharon Friends of Conservation, StopNED, West Roxbury Saves Energy, Fair Environment Corp./Friends of Prowse Farm, Unitarian Universalist Mass Action, Mass Audubon Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary, Sustainable Sharon Coalition, Green Reel Collaborative, HEET, Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Church of Sharon, Walpole Peace and Justice Group, Franklin Node 350 Mass, South Coast Neighbors United.
