Vermont Governor Signs BPA Bill

Gov. Jim Douglas signed a Toxics Action Center-backed bill into law Thursday that will ban a the chemical BPA from many food and drink containers sold in Vermont.

Bisphenol-A, or BPA, is a plastic softener found in baby and water bottles as well as the lining of aluminum cans.  Numerous studies have linked it to developmental disorders, reproductive problems, obesity and cancer.

Vermont now joins Connecticut in having the toughest anti-BPA law in the country.
